North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)


The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, better known as NATO, is a security alliance between 30 European and North American countries. NATO was founded in 1949 as a counterbalance to the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO has sought to revitalize itself in a shifting global order, increasing its membership and becoming a key security player around the world.
